About

The Coventry High School Bands serve approximately 100 students in grades 9 – 12. The band program at CHS consists of the Coventry High School Symphonic Winds, the Coventry High School Concert Band, the Coventry High School Marching Band, Jazz Ensemble, and Funk Band. The music department strives for excellence in all areas of its performing ensembles and stresses the importance of learning and enjoying music as part of a well rounded education.

“The Pride of the Portage Lakes” begin their rehearsals in July and rehearse throughout the fall two times a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays). In addition to performing each Friday night at football games, the CHS Marching Band performs at various OMEA Marching Band Competitions throughout the state. The ensemble has also performed at OMEA State Marching Band Finals, Ohio Stadium, Walt Disney World, and New York City!

The Concert Program at Coventry consists of the Symphonic Band and Concert Band. Members of these ensembles perform in OMEA Adjudicated Events such as OMEA Large Group and OMEA Solo and Ensemble. The CHS Symphonic Band has earned Superior and Excellent Ratings at both the District and State levels.

We are excited to watch our Middle School Bands increase in size in the coming years! Students in the 7th and 8th grade bands perform at Junior High Solo and Ensemble and OMEA Large Group Adjudicated Event (where they have earned Superior and Excellent Ratings). Members of our 8th Grade Band also get to experience marching with the Coventry High School Marching Band at a home football game.

We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming performances!
