Announcement from Mr. Cummings

Hello Everyone!

My name is Brandon Cummings and I have been hired by Coventry Local Schools as your new Band Director. I am very excited to be joining the Coventry Band Program again and to begin working with you all very soon!

I enter the 2021-2022 school year at Coventry after teaching in the Waterloo Local School District for the last two years. Previous to teaching at Waterloo I was a substitute teacher for a year and a half, an Assistant Band Director here at Coventry, and I graduated with my degree in music education from The University of Akron in 2017. I am looking forward to meeting and working with each and every one of you!

With that said, here are a couple important announcements:


Please join the appropriate Remind group ASAP. Notice there are separate groups for students and parents due to a participant limit in Remind groups. I plan on using Remind as my primary method of communication for the time being.

Medical Form

Please go to the website and print out the medical form. You can find it by going to the Coventry Band Website > Ensembles > Marching Band > Forms and Paperwork. Fill this form out and turn it in on your first day of band. I need these before you can begin truly participating so we don’t have any issues with someone getting injured and not being able to handle the situation properly. I am not sure if anyone turned these in before the end of last year; however, I would like everyone to turn one in on the first day of band. Please do not claim you turned one in previously. I most likely don’t know where it is at the moment. Thank you for understanding!


The schedule is going to remain the same as it was set previously by Mr. Welker. Please see Schedule of Events

  • Rookies (any first year band members) as well as anyone on the leadership team should be reporting to band this coming Tuesday (7/13) and Thursday (7/15) from 8:00am-11:00am
  • The following week (7/19-7/23) all band members should report from 8:00am-12:00pm.

Please note: If rehearsal is scheduled for 8:00am, that means we are starting at 8:00am, not arriving at 8:00am. You should be arriving by at least 7:45am to be ready to begin at 8:00am.

Random Things

As we begin band, please remember these things: get plenty of sleep, eat well (including breakfast before band), drink plenty of water throughout the day, wear sunscreen, and wear appropriate clothing (including athletic shoes). Doing all of these things will ensure that you and all of us remain as healthy as possible. In band we rely on EVERYONE being present and able to work hard in order to be successful.
