All students planning to be in a high school concert band for the 2020-2021 school year will be performing an audition in April. Dates for these auditions can be found on the Schedule of Events Page. Auditions allow the band staff to appropriately place musicians into one of our two concert bands for the upcoming school year.
Current HS students will be required to know all 12 major scales and current 8th graders will be required to know the scales you are currently working on in band.
Along with scales, you will be asked to prepare an audition piece and will perform a short sight reading excerpt. The audition pieces are attached and can be printed at your convenience. Percussionists – you will be asked to tune the timpani (using either pitch pipe or mallet instrument), play the mallet exercise in the Audition Music Packet, perform majors scales, and perform the Snare Audition.
